Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa (GAP)
The project ‘Gadadhar Abhyudaya Prakalpa’ (GAP), named after the childhood name of Sri Ramakrishna, i.e., ‘Gadadhar’, is being implemented for the betterment of the neglected slum and rural children who are often brought from the roadside huts and highly unhygienic garbage-damping areas.
The aims of this project are to instil moral and cultural values in the targeted children, to educate them with special coaching on their school subjects, to inculcate a sense of cleanliness and hygiene, to nourish for the physical development and to prepare them to be good citizens of India.
The GAP is a composite programme having different activities for physical, mental and intellectual development of the targeted children, aged between 5 to 12 years. This programme is conducted daily for about 2 — 3 hours in the evening.
Ramakrishna Mission, Vijayawada is running four units of GAP at four different places – two municipal primary schools in Vijayawada sub-urban, Krishna district, Ramakrishna Mission High School, Sitanagaram village, Guntur district and Sri Ramakrishna Seva Samiti, Kotha Agraharam village, Srikakulam district.

(Needless to say, these contributions are exempt from Income Tax under section 80G(5)(vi) of the I. T. Act 1961. The donation may be in the form of Corpus Fund, the interest of which will be used to run the GAP, or as the yearly Running Expenses for the same. )
Distribution of monthly Ration Kits for the elderly destitutes

A survey has been conducted in the villages in and around Sitanagaram to identify and locate poor elderly persons who are living without the support of their children or relatives. Some of them are getting small amount of pension from the Government and monthly ration like rice. To support them further, Ramakrishna Mission selected 100 such people and distributing monthly ration kits consisting of toor dal (1 kg), urad dal (1 kg), moong dal (500 gms), dalia (1 kg), suji (1 kg), wheat flour (1 kg), edible oil (1 litre) and garlic (250 gms), etc. Every month these elderly people come to Ramakrishna Mission and collect the Ration Kits. Once in a year sarees for the women and dhotis & towels for the gents are also distributed.
Each Ration Kit costs Rs.500/-.Ramakrishna Mission is spending Rs.6.00 lakhs annually for this project and meeting this expenditure from the donations received from Public. We appeal to the individuals or organizations to donate for this Service Project. We thankfully accept even small donations meeting the requirement of one Ration Kit.

School uniforms, notebooks and schoolbags are distributed to the needy students.
Every year, scholarships are awarded to deserving economically backward students.

Medical Facility at Sitanagaram
Free Homoeo dispensary for the poor at 7 pm every Wednesday at Sitanagaram.
Free medicines are also provided to the patients.
